Trust me, it's always a work in progress. Some days I think I am the dog and kid whisperer and other days it's pure anarchy and I'm locking myself in my room.

Oooh, I like the idea of rules for husbands! I'll put some thought into that one. Maybe start with Always obey the one in charge. If husbands could just realize that it's not them, then things really go smooth from there...

I can't imagine how you made your dog obey the 7th rule and your kid the 8th one. :D
But you did really good job.

P.S. Did you try to set any rules for your husband? I think it would be perfect to make my husband obey at least some.

No overtime pay, but there is something to be said for sneaking away to the movies by yourself with a big tub of butter popcorn, a ginormous soda and Junior Mints. Next best thing to a sick day.

I totally understand the day off too. I'm a full time worker and my nights are always on all..so I haven't taken a vacation for some time. Do we get over time pay ??

It's true. I once wrote a column blaming parenting magazines (Words to Live By) for filling my head with ideas like actually giving kids choices without turning into a waitress or that providing constant interaction and stimulation won't turn your child into a kid who can't play by himself. Yeah, right.

That is hilarious. But so true about sticking to advice in one book or another. The confusing part is knowing what "manuals" to follow.

She is pretty stinkin' cute. You find yourself smiling and laughing a lot. Except when I'm outside in the rain waiting for her to poop.

She is so adorable! And you and hubby are SO BRAVE for bringing a puppy home. We chickened out and did the rescue because I just didn't have the stomach for puppy training!
